The 5th Marine Regiment is a Marine Regiment in the 1st Marine Division


It was first activated in 1917 for World War I. It later fought in the Banana Wars. It then would participate in World War II, where it was placed in the 1st Marine Division. It would fight at Guadalcanal, and then Cape Gloucester, After that, Private First Class Eugene Sledge would join the Regiment. It then fought at Peleliu, and later Okinawa. It would then serve in the occupation of China. It then fought in the Korean war, and later the Vietnam War, and would then fight in Operation Desert Storm, or the Gulf War, and later in Operation Iraqi Freedom, or the Iraqi War. It is currently serving in the occupation of Iraq.
