The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was a family of US automatic rifles (or machine rifles) and light machine guns used by the United States and numerous other countries during the 20th century.
Usage by the Marines[]
It is common at times to see a few BARs here and there throughtout the series but not used by the main characters but rather background characters (for example, it is seen being carried by a man who taunts Japanese POWs in Part Nine).
